Although Davies' images are in the main photographs, he likes his work to be thought of as pieces of artwork and "unknown artwork" is key to that description.
This is because he believes that the unknown artists here are the people who construct the images that he photographs. so for example, someone who leaves an old water butt to disintegrate and allow the paint to peel away may well be the artists. Or is it Davies himself who is the artists in the way the image is photographed and cropped?
Davies has recently dipped into drawing, literally. Working with an old fashioned dip pen and nib and a large bottle of black indian ink he has been working on a number of drawings that have come from some of his photogrphs. Take a look at his Drawn Landscapes page to see more of them, they are soon to be available as prints
